Your Open Word e-Devotional for November 7th

Hello ,

I can think of little else in life that is as frustrating as hanging pictures in a home. There probably are other activities that would vex my soul to that extent...but none that I have performed recently.  :)  I detest it, and would rather chop wood, or change a car tire, than to hang a picture.  If there was a person in my area that charged for hanging pictures...I would probably find a way to rationalize why I needed their services.

It seems to me that hanging pictures is one of those activities, where (no matter how long it takes),  you never get the real answers as to where the holes should have been drilled until AFTER you've already drilled them.

Is there any other husband out there nodding his head?  Is there a wife out there who is shaking hers?

Have you ever had one of those times in life when the ENTIRE DAY seems to be one big, frustrating obstacle after another?  If you are having one of those days today, let me be the first to say...YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

We've ALL had those kinds of days.  They're not fun, they seem to have very little redeeming value, and they sometimes make you wonder why you chose to get out of bed that morning.

"More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."  Romans 5:3-5 (ESV)

God has a plan for you and I.  We don't always understand it, but when He is on the throne of our hearts, He can bring about good things in lives...now, and for eternity.

Have a great day and God bless!

Pastor Mike / The Open Word

P.S.  I sure hope my wife doesn't keep this e-Devotional around for the next time she wants to hang pictures.  ;)
