Do you have a
routine? I do.
I purposely waited on today's e-Devotional as a demonstration of what it feels like to have my own routine changed up a bit. I'm a creature of habit...and I follow the habitual trail of routine on a regular basis. Day in and day out, I find myself going through the motions of
some habits that were set in place a long time ago in my life.
Some of those habits are quirky, some of them are very positive, and there are a few that I am wanting to change for the better. Whatever fills up my routine, I find myself going back to it over and over and over again. I've discovered that
any real change in my own journey includes a change in my routine...
More important than any other change that I have ever made, is a change in my routine to consciously think about my relationship with God. When I awaken in the morning, my
mind tends to immediately engage with what I have to do, what I want to accomplish, and how I'm going to set up my day. In short, it often begins with a very myopic view of my day, and how I AM going to set it up.
I
continue to ask God to help me to think of my relationship with HIM when I first open my eyes, rather than all of the things that are on MY agenda. Old habits die hard, but God is patiently teaching me that He must be the center of all of my routines if I am to become all that He designed me to be.
How is YOUR routine? Do you struggle in certain areas of your spiritual life as well? I am convinced that God has the answers to life's questions, and that if we seek Him more, that He can direct us in ways that we can never direct ourselves.
