Your Open Word e-Devotional for April 11th

Hello  ,

Singer Johnny Cash's wife, June Carter Cash, died May 15, 2003. As a follower of Jesus, she displayed many Christlike qualities. In particular, she never quit loving her husband and never quit challenging him, despite his failings.

In his 1998 autobiography, Johnny Cash describes how his wife stuck with him through his years of amphetamine abuse:

"June said she knew the kernel of me, deep inside, beneath the drugs and deceit and despair and anger and selfishness, and knew my loneliness.…She said she could help me.If she found my pills, she flushed them down the toilet. And find them she did; she searched for them, relentlessly."*

As I read this deeply personal account, I was reminded of One Who relentlessly searches searches for the things that we struggle with, and offers to work a divine plan in our lives for victory, freedom, and release from bondage.  Jesus never gives up, He never quits, He never ceases to love.  May that thought give you courage and strength to face any challenge you encounter today!

"The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you." Jeremiah 31:3

Have a great day and God bless!
