Hello
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld shares the following about friendships:
When you're in your thirties it's very hard to make a new friend. Whatever the group is that you've got now that's who
you're going with, you're not interviewing, you're not looking at any new people, you're not interested in seeing any applications. They don't know the places ... They don't know the activities. If I meet a guy in a club or the gym, I'll tell him, "I'm sure you're a very nice person, you seem to have a lot of potential, but we're just not hiring right now."*
I have
known church congregations that struggle with this very issue. They've been around the same people for so long, that when someone new actually shows up they sometimes feel threatened. Being friends with someone that we don't know can be scary business!
"Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord
doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." John 15:15
The verse above is Jesus speaking...and that makes it pretty important. If Jesus can call US friends, we can be friends with others....even those that might stir up the
"status quo."
Have a great day and God bless!
