Hello
Whoever said that "silence
is golden," may not have spent days on end with no one to talk to but themselves. I recently had a conversation with a person who struglles with lonliness. Those of us who are constantly busy are challenged with this issue, because we've had days when silence would be a wonderful "problem" to actually have.
We're coming into a time of year when many
people struggle with extreme lonliness. The upcoming thanksgiving and Chrsitmas holiday seasons are times when most families spend evenings playing games, conversing, and enjoying one another's company. For lonely people, the holiday season can sometimes seem almost unbearable. I know...I've spoken to so many over the years who weep at the thought of spending more time by themselves.
Let me challenge each of us to take a few moments today, and actually dwell on someone else's lonely reality that they live with...day and and day out. We can't do everything, but we CAN do something. As Christians, we are encouraged to reach out to people like this. We don't have to provide anything financially if we're unable to, but often the gift of time is the a most wonderful way to tell others that we care about
them.
Lord, help me to be a blessing to someone who is struggling with loneliness today! Amen!
Have a great day and God bless!
