This past summer, I had a friend who is a pastor (and also a carpenter), come to my home for a few days to help me fix my kitchen wall. It was a mess, but I had no idea just how bad it actually was.
When we opened up the sheetrock I heard my friend whisper, "Oh my!" That's not really what a homeowner wants to hear someone utter when they're fixing things on their home.
Many of the 2x4's that were on one of the supporting walls of our kitchen were rotted, and the wall had sagged because of the lack of support. It really was a challenge.
We jacked the wall back up into place, and added new lumber to every area that needed it. It was only then that we could put everything back into place, and refurbish the kitchen.
Our verse this morning, reminds us that when we come to Jesus, that a spiritual renovation is needful. The good news is, that we have a Master carpenter Who is an expert at rebuilding things from the inside out.
